TYPES OF INFORMATION WE COLLECT

ACCOUNT INFORMATION

When a District or School creates a Grammaropolis account, we collect relevant contact information including the school/district name, address, and phone number, along with the account administrator’s name and email address. In the administration of the school account, we will also collect the names and email addresses for each of the teachers who will be listed on the account.

When an individual creates a Grammaropolis account, we collect relevant contact information, including the school name, address, and phone number,along with the individual’s name and email address, and other information where necessary (address, phone number, credit card information).

STUDENT INFORMATION

Through the course of providing performance data and tracking a student’s progress through Grammaropolis, we collect the student’s first and last name as per the class roster. This information will either come to us directly from the teacher or school in the course of administering the account, or it will come through the integration of a Single Sign-On (SSO) provider such as Google Classroom, Clever, or Edmodo. The types of information we associate with a student include: Quiz Scores, Videos Watched, Books Read, Progression through Grammaropolis, Sections Started, Section Completed.

STUDENT DATA

Through the Teacher Dashboard, the account administrator will be able to see exactly what Student Data has been recorded. WE DO NOT SEND ANY COMMUNICATIONS TO CHILDREN, SHARE THEIR IDENTITIES OR IN ANY WAY COMMUNICATE WITH CHILDREN. ALL COMMUNICATIONS ARE SENT TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS OF THE ACCOUNT ADMINISTRATOR.

Student Data is confidential. We do not use Student Data for any purpose other than to provide our service to districts, schools, teachers, and homeschoolers. Our use of Student Data is governed by out Terms of Use, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and various state laws which apply to the collection of Student Data.

Students and parents should contact their school with any questions relating to the school’s use of Student Data as it relates to services like Grammaropolis.

Grammaropolis does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13 (except under circumstances where the school has already obtained all necessary parental consent). Furthermore, Grammaropolis assumes that each school and/or district has provided parents and/or guardians the appropriate notices relative to third-party educational service providers such as Grammaropolis, that the school has provided authorization for Grammaropolis to collect the necessary student data as outlined in the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Furthermore:

  • Before or at the time of collecting Student Data, we will identify the purposes for which information is being collected.
  • We will collect and use of Student Data solely with the objective of fulfilling those purposes specified by us and for other compatible purposes, unless we obtain the consent of the individual concerned or as required by law.
  • We will only retain Student Data as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.
  • We will collect Student Data by lawful and fair means and, where appropriate, with the knowledge or consent of the individual concerned.
  • We will protect Student Data by reasonable security safeguards against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
  • We will make readily available to customers information about our policies and practices relating to the management of personal information.

USE OF ACCOUNT INFORMATION

Account Information may be disclosed to third-party service providers who work with us to provide some of the services on the web site and to help us communicate with you. Examples include, but are not limited to, sending email, analyzing data, marketing, processing payments (including credit card payments), and providing customer service. We expect our third-party service providers to not to use such information except as necessary to provide the relevant services to us.

If we go through a business transition such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your Account Information may be transferred. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur and are permitted by this Privacy Policy. The acquirer of any Account Information through a business transfer will be subject to this Privacy Policy until revised by the acquirer pursuant to this Privacy Policy.

This applies to promotional communications and not administrative communications we feel are necessary to provide the services on the Website. ANONYMOUS INFORMATION

We use technology to passively collect and store certain anonymous information that is not tied to a specific identified user which may include, but is not limited to your Internet protocol address, browser type and operating system. We, or our authorized third-party representatives may use Cookies and navigational data like Uniform Resource Locators (URL) to gather information regarding the date and time of your visit, the site you immediately came from and the site you immediately go to after accessing the web site. It will also collect data about the use of the web site including what programs, applications, advertisements and terms you searched, viewed or clicked. Should you be directed to any other site from the web site,we are not responsible for the acts of other sites and this Privacy Policy does not apply to that site.

We may engage in remarketing to market our sites across the web. When a user visits our site, a cookie is dropped on the user. Users with this cookie may be targeted across advertising networks to receive relevant advertisements.

INFORMATION STORAGE

All information collected through the Grammaropolis service is stored and processed in the United States of America. If you are using the Grammaropolis service outside the United States of America, you are consenting to have your data transferred to and stored in the United States of America.

Grammaropolis uses industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to safeguard the account registration process and sign-up information.

If there is any disclosure or access to any personally identifiable Student Data by an unauthorized party, Grammaropolis will promptly notify the affected school(s) and will use reasonable efforts to cooperate with their investigation of the incident.

GENERAL

This Privacy Policy is subject to occasional changes at our discretion. We will post any such changes to this page and may otherwise post other alerts on the web site or communicate such changes through email. If you disagree with any such changes, please cease using the Website. Continued use following the posting of any such changes indicates your acceptance of the changes. Minors under the age of 13 may not create an account on the web site. If you do not create an account, the web site only collects your Anonymous Information.
