On Saturday, Grammaropolis Park filled up for the pet parade. Jake the Adjective sat on the park bench with his sketch pad. "March your pets past me!" he called. "I'll describe every one."
The first dog trotted past in a bandana. Next came a cat with fur and tall ears. A parrot rode by, squawking a song.
Then Nelson's platypus waddled into line without an invitation. The crowd laughed, and every pet began to wiggle loose. A puppy splashed through the fountain and came out smelling . The goldfish looked as its bowl wobbled past.
Jake stood on the bench and raised his pencil. "Try to be calm, patient, and hopeful," he said. All the owners took a breath together. Slowly, the parade lined up again, platypus and all.
Jake sketched the platypus right into the show. The popcorn from the snack cart tasted . At the end, every pet won a ribbon. The whole park felt as the parade marched home.
"What a parade," Jake said, closing his sketch pad. "Every pet here is one of a kind."
