The Soup of the Century

On contest night, Gramma's Diner smelled from the front door to the last booth. Five cooks lined up their pots for the Soup of the Century, and Lucy the Linking Verb was the judge, because nobody in Grammaropolis tastes soup more slowly.
The first soup salty. The second smoky and mysterious. The third soup was , which honestly surprised everyone, including the soup.
Then a knight in full armor clanked through the door, straight from the year 1287, and demanded a bowl. "Sir, the line is the line," said Gramma.
While the knight waited, his armor foggy from the soup steam, and his mood grumpier by the minute. "Why don't you just sit down and be?" Lucy asked. So he did, and he immediately .
The fourth soup had been since Tuesday, and it tasted . The fifth was just warm water wearing a hat.
Lucy sipped each one twice, nice and slow, and finally stood up. "Every soup in its own way," she announced. "But tonight, the winner = ."
The diner cheered. The knight wept into his helmet. Gramma extremely proud, and the trophy was a ladle.
