On Blueprint Day at the Sentence Factory, Li'l Pete clipped a stack of plans to his board and squinted at the floor. "Watch the phrases, scouts. Can I place your things in time or space, or show a logical relationship? Every phrase points at one word."
The first plan showed a gear the main belt, bolted down tight. Pete checked it the morning whistle and traced the next phrase the loading dock.
A stray robot rolled the workers all day. "Did you know that bats always turn to the left upon exiting a cave?" Pete noted, sharing one fact per shift.
The crew worked the lunch bell without a pause. At last the finished sign hung the doorway, mounted two steel beams the entrance. Pete pinned the blueprint his board. "Every phrase, traced. That is how you read a floor."
