One bright Saturday, Jake the Adjective planned a picnic. He walked to Gramma's Quick Mart for snacks. The glass door swung open with a squeak. "Snack time," Jake said, rubbing his hands.
Inside, Jake filled his basket very slowly. He looked at every single shelf. He picked a juice first. Then he grabbed a pretzel. The cheese puffs looked under the bright lights. By the pickle jars, Jake stopped and sniffed. "These pickles smell ," he said happily.
At the register, Izzy popped up beside him. "Whoa! That basket is packed!" she said. "Come to my picnic," Jake said.
Outside, they spread a blanket on the sidewalk. The sun felt on their faces. Jake passed out the snacks and smiled. "Sit down, friend. You're always welcome here." It was a day for a snack run.
