On the morning of Merit Badge Day, Li'l Pete marched to the trailhead with his map, his compass, and his badge sash. "Follow me, scouts! Can I place your things in time or space, or show a logical relationship? Watch and see."
The first clue sat a mossy log, right where the map promised. Pete found it sunrise, exactly on schedule, and pointed the whole troop the tall pine.
The trail wound a bubbling creek, and a curious platypus paddled the scouts the entire way. "Did you know that bats always turn left when they leave a cave?" Pete added, because a good scout shares one fact per mile.
The troop hiked lunchtime without a single break. At last the shiny badge appeared, tucked two big boulders the trail's end. Pete pinned it his sash and grinned. "Every object, located. That is a preposition's whole job."
Other kids have filled in this story too.
