A client slid over a sentence whose pronoun could mean two people. " floats," Roger said. "Name the noun stands for, and I'll clear . Now points at one person."
Next came a look-alike pair. "Ownership, so the team kept captain. The other means it is, so a long season."
A platypus held up a shiny pronoun. "Whose?" Roger snatched it back. "It's not yours, and it's not his or hers or even theirs. It's mine! But can rent it, if names a noun."
Then Nelson stopped by. Roger did not argue. "You were right. The nouns showed up, and every pronoun points back to now."
By closing, every floating pronoun had a noun behind . Roger eyed the desk that was finally, honestly . "Turns out," he said, "I need clarity more than ever did."
