Meet the characters
A noun names a person, a place, a thing, or an idea.
An action verb expresses mental or physical action.
A linking verb connects a noun or a pronoun to a word that describes or restates it.
An adjective describes a noun or pronoun. It tells which one, what kind, or how many.
An adverb modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. It tells how, when, where, or how much.
A pronoun takes the place of a noun or a pronoun.
A conjunction joins words, phrases, or clauses.
A preposition shows the relationship between a noun or a pronoun and other words in the sentence. It locates its object in space or time, or shows a logical relationship.
An interjection expresses emotion. It's set apart from the rest of the sentence.
